Privacy Policy
Updated 11/30/03
We value your privacy. We do not collect personal information on this site, with the
exception of name and email address, which are collected in the following situations:
- You subscribe to our free ezine (see below).
- You submit content or ideas for the site, such as articles, event listings, flight
instructor listings, classifieds, etc.
- You contact us by email with questions, concerns, or requests.
Email addresses are used only for the ezine or to reply to your email messages.
We do not sell, trade, or provide your email address or any other information about you
to third parties.
Writing us by email does not subscribe you to our ezine. To sign up, use the
form on the right.
Free ezine
Updated 12/23/03
There is no longer a site update mailing list. To read about changes and updates to
the site, see the blog, which has entries going back several
months.
The ezine debuted December 17, 2003. It will begin a regular schedule in January.
Subscriptions are by your request only. Even if you previously signed up for the site
update list, or you maintain a free listing (such as
flight instructor or flying club) on this site, you will need to sign up for the
ezine if you want to receive it.
The old subscribe and unsubscribe addresses are no longer used. To subscribe,
use the form on the right side of this page.
To unsubscribe or change the
address where you receive the ezine, see the link at the bottom of each issue.
Flight instructor mailing list
Updated 12/23/03
We maintain a separate mailing list for those who have a flight instructor listing on
the site. By submitting a listing, you agree to be on this list. The list is only for
news and administrative purposes related to the listings. The primary purpose is to remind
you to keep your listing updated or ask to have it removed if you are no longer
instructing. Expect very few messages as a result of being on this list.
Each message will have removal instructions at the end. However, removing
yourself from the list that way will
not remove your listing from the site. We're not quite that automated yet. What it
will do is prevent you from receiving future messages, so that you'll eventually forget
your listing exists, years after you've stopped teaching. Please help us keep the
directory current: if you want your listing
removed, email us and we'll remove the listing and remove you from the mailing
list.
Bounces: Please make sure your email address is kept current. Reminder notes sent
to several instructors have already bounced back (been returned as undeliverable).
This can occur if your inbox is full (especially with web-based mail such as yahoo),
you or your Internet provider is rejecting mail sent from theinfrequentflyer.com,
your address no longer exists, or other reasons. If you're using an email whitelist
(a list of approved senders) make sure theinfrequentflyer.com is on it.
Warning: If we're unable to email you, potential students who see your listing may
have the same problem, especially if you're using a whitelist! Think about it. Since
your listing is an ad for your services, there's not much point in having a non-working
email address listed. We reserve the right to remove your instructor listing if
mail sent to you bounces back multiple times, so make sure your address is accepting
mail!
Links Policy
We welcome links from your site, especially if it is aviation-related. Unless requested
otherwise, please link to the main page at theinfrequentflyer.com, since names of other
pages on the site occasionally change. To request a link to your site, see the instructions
in the Links Directory.
We link to other aviation sites we believe are useful to our readers. We don't
intentionally link to members-only or paid content, and suggest that such sites be configured
to make such links unusable. We don't believe
we need anyone's permission to link to another site.
However, if we have a link to your site and you want
the link removed, ask nicely, and we will do so. We reserve the right to scratch our
heads and wonder why you wouldn't want a site such as this linking to yours. (Perhaps
you already have too much traffic?)
Since website content can change at any time,
we are not responsible for the content of sites we link to, or that those sites link to.
If you find a link on this site that violates our family-friendly policy (see below),
please let us know so we can remove it from the site.
Family-Friendly Policy
This is a family-friendly site. Although we do not have any content specifically for
children, we realize that there are many student pilots and others interested in aviation
who are not yet adults. We keep that fact in mind when adding content to the site.
We do not intentionally link to sites or accept advertising for the following types
of sites, products, or services:
- "adult" content (such as pornography, gambling, drugs, alcohol)
- illegal products or services
- promotion of hate, racism, violence, etc. (Just who does link to those?)
Our basic philosophy is that we
want a site we'd be comfortable letting Grandma read.
Submissions Policy
We welcome your ideas or submissions of content for this site. Several pages have
submission guidelines that indicate what we're looking for:
If you have ideas which don't fit the above categories, please submit them anyway.
We will be adding new sections to the site.
If you have written material for other sites or publications and would like to submit
it here, that is fine as long as you can authorize us to publish it on this site.
We
will give you credit as author (unless you request otherwise) and include your
copyright notice or resource box, if applicable.
Send all ideas and submissions to
editor @ theinfrequentflyer.com
Advertising Policy
We accept advertising which follows our Family-Friendly Policy (FFP) above. Some
ads are provided by other companies from their servers. These ads are supposed to
follow the FFP; if you see one you feel does not, please let us know immediately.
We are an affiliate of some advertisers on this site and may receive a commission
for sales generated through links from this site, but not enough to make our Ferrari
payments. (How many sites tell you that?)
