How you can help with hurricane relief
Please consider making a donation to the Red Cross to help the victims of Hurricane Charley. You can do so on their website or by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW.
Since I had to evacuate my home and our city was spared, I've already made my donation.
The Red Cross says financial donations are the best way to help (rather than sending food, water, clothing, etc.), since the money will be used where the need is greatest.
Billions of dollars in damage was done, on a path that extends from Sanibel Island in the Fort Myers area all the way up the middle of the state past Orlando. Hundreds of thousands, including some of my own family, are still without power, three days after the storm.
Some general aviation airports were hard hit, especially in Punta Gorda (PGD) and Lake Wales (X07), where many aircraft were damaged.
